Hack-O-Heist 2025 – 36 Hours of Innovation & Impact

Hack-O-Heist is not just a hackathon – it’s a 36-hour marathon of creativity, coding, and collaboration where the brightest minds come together to solve real-world challenges. Organized by the Department of Computer Science & Information Technology, MRCE, and powered by Techie Hub, this event is designed to bring out the hacker spirit in every participant.

With a prize pool of upto ₹30,000, Hack-O-Heist offers participants the chance to push boundaries, showcase skills, and turn ideas into impactful solutions. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned developer, this hackathon is your opportunity to learn, innovate, and network with like-minded peers.

Requirements

Submission Requirements

To ensure your project is eligible for judging, each team must submit the following:

  1. Working Prototype
    • A functional application, website, or solution developed during the hackathon.
    • Code must be uploaded to a public GitHub/GitLab repository with a proper README.
  2. Presentation (3–5 minutes)
    • Showcase your project, its features, and how it solves the chosen problem.
    • Highlight both the technical implementation and the user experience.
    • Upload the video to YouTube/Drive and share the link in your submission.
  3. Project Description on Devpost
    • Clear explanation of your idea and how it works.
    • The problem statement you are addressing.
    • Technologies, frameworks, or APIs used.
    • Challenges you faced and how you overcame them.
    • Future scope or potential improvements.
  4. Team Details
    • List of all team members (2–5 per team).
    • Each member must be registered for the hackathon.
  5. Optional but Recommended
    • UI/UX mockups, diagrams, or design documents.
    • Deployment link (if your project is hosted).

⚠️ Note: Projects must be built entirely during the hackathon timeframe. Pre-existing codebases are not allowed (except for open-source libraries, APIs, or frameworks).

Judging Criteria

  • 1. Innovation & Creativity (20points)
    Originality will be judged on the uniqueness of the idea, creative problem-solving, and innovative use of technologies, frameworks, or APIs.
  • 2. Technical Implementation (25points)
    Judging will consider the solution’s technical depth, code quality, functionality, and its scalability and feasibility.
  • 3. Impact & Relevance (20points)
    Evaluation will focus on how effectively the solution addresses the problem, its real-world applicability, and its potential impact on society, business, or the community.
  • 4. User Experience & Design (15points)
    Judging will assess the application’s UI/UX based on its intuitiveness, visual design, usability, accessibility, and ease of navigation.
  • 5. Presentation & Demo (10points)
    Evaluation will be based on the demo video’s clarity, how well the project idea and flow are explained, and the overall engagement and persuasiveness of the pitch.
  • 6. Teamwork & Collaboration (10points)
    Judging will consider team collaboration, equal contribution, adaptability in problem-solving, and creativity in dividing responsibilities.
  • Innovation Boost (5–10 points) may be awarded for:
    Earn extra credit for deploying live, building beyond the scope, or delivering exceptional documentation.
